Girls on the Run – It’s Cool to be ME 5K – Sponsored by Tim Hortons

Girls on the Run participants and coaches in K-W and the GTA come together to celebrate the successful completion of the Spring 2013 program at the annual It’s Cool to be ME 5K at Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre on Sunday June 9 2013.

Girls and coaches participating in the spring 2013 program in Kitchener Waterloo and the Greater Toronto Area are already registered for this event. Event registration is open for friends and family of girls participating in the program. There is no fee if you would like to cheer from the sidelines – however, you must register, if you would like to walk or run in the event. 500 spots available on a first come, first served basis.

Girls on the Run is launching an 8-week Fall Session!

Over the years, we have been asked again and again if we run a Fall Session. Well, this year the answer is YES! We will be running an 8-week session starting the week of September 9 and completing the week of October 28. The session will conclude in a 5K Event at your site.

If you would like to bring the program to your school for Fall 2013, please click here for more information. We are accepting only the first 30 schools that apply online. After that, we would be happy to speak with you about our Spring 2014 session.

Welcome to Girls on the Run® Ontario – We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

Girls on the Run Ontario is a positive youth development program which combines training for a non-competitive 5k run/walk with an interactive curriculum to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles of 8-13 year old girls. Our curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development – their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons provide girls with the tools to make positive decisions and to avoid risky adolescent behaviours.

One girl put it this way, “I learned that I am the boss of my brain.” Not only do we get girls (and their coaches and families) moving – we also arm them with the tools necessary to effectively manage many of life’s challenges, including gossip, bullying, establishing healthy friendships and standing up for themselves and others.

Girls on the Run Ontario is a Registered Canadian Charity.

Girls on the Run Ontario is an Independent Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of 200+ locations across the United States and Canada.
