Volunteer Opportunities
Coach Girls on the Run Ontario relies on volunteers to help us coach our programs. Coaching is a commitment – besides being role models of self-esteem and healthy living, Coaches must be available 2 days/week, and be able to travel to the location where they are assigned. Most coaches are teachers or parents in the school where the program is running. All Head Coaches are provided with First Aid/CPR and Curriculum training. In addition, all coaches must obtain a Vulnerable Sector Screening through their local Police Department. Coaches work directly with the 3rd-5th grade or 6th-8th grade girls – teaching them healthy habits and training them for the big 5K event!
Student Leader High School students needing volunteer hours can act as role modes of self-esteem and healthy living. Student leaders must be available after-school hours and will assist coaches as needed.
Support a “One-time Event” Help out in the office during our busy program seasons or at a special event during the year. Office hours are flexible between 9am and 5pm. Special events typically take place during evenings and weekends.   If you are interested, please complete our General Volunteer Application and fax back to Girls on the Run Ontario.
5K Event Volunteer Our program culminates in a 5K event in June. This event is truly inspirational as all of the girls who participate in our spring session cross the finish line of their 5K with huge smiles on their faces and a tremendous sense of accomplishment. We need 5K Event volunteers to help with course monitoring, participant registration, and games.  If you are interested, please complete our 5K Event Volunteer Application and fax back to Girls on the Run Ontario.
Join a Committee Consider joining one of our commitees and help Girls on the Run Ontario on an ongoing basis.  We have opportunities to research and prepare grant proposals, plan our season-end 5K event, support our coaches, assist with marketing and PR, or plan fundraising events. Volunteers for all committees must be willing and able to attend periodic committee meetings in the evenings and potentially on weekends.   If you are interested, please complete our General Volunteer Application and fax back to Girls on the Run Ontario.
Administrative Co-ordinator Working for Girls on the Run is SO MUCH FUN! Want to join our team? We are looking for an Administrative Coordinator – Volunteer Position. For more information please click here.
